4 hours of postpartum doula help - can be broken into two days

Nurturing new families from the start so the mother can get the support that she and her new family may need. A postpartum doula arrives to aid in this time of profound transition and provides whatever the family most needs.

Including these things:

• The doula provides emotional support, ie, help in processing the birth, and adjusting to this postpartum period and the new demands, invitations, joys and challenges present in this threshold crossing.

• Helps with practical tasks for the family so that the mother can rest or have more time to bond with baby.

• Answering questions related to the birth, newborn care, breastfeeding etc. and offers support, education that can help in healing from any birth or postpartum complications.

• Teaches postpartum healing care, i.e., foods, herbs, meditations and exercises that are beneficial during this time.

• Guide mother in postpartum yoga, mediations, or a warming the bones ritual

• Offer vaginal/pelvic floor steaming using local and other organic fresh botanicals.

• Cook nourishing foods, snacks and desserts.

• Light cleaning, running errands, grocery shopping, etc

• Help with siblings.

• Make herbal teas that aid in healing.

• Help with newborn care.

• Breastfeeding support

Above all, the postpartum doula fully understands and honors the sacred window that is these first 40 days and the subsequent years that form the foundation for the family and available to fortify that time. Importance is placed on this cocooning period, the golden months and the formative first years that follow after a baby is born and are so important for the mother’s healing, her bond with her baby and her families start. Permission is given for the parents to cocoon, rest, get the tools and support they need to do so, and adjust as they heal and grow as a new family.
